Cook Yourself Thin Recipes – Learn how to make Sauteed Tequila Lime Shrimp Tacos With Mango-Pineapple Salsa and Spicy Black Beans

Serves 4
Calories per serving, shrimp tacos: 413
Calories per serving, mango-pineapple salsa: 76
Calories per serving, spicy black beans: 110

Ingredients

For the shrimp tacos

2–4 tablespoons olive oil
1 garlic clove, chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Pinch red pepper flakes
1 pound medium shrimp, deveined
3 tablespoons high-quality tequila
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon dried chipotle powder
2–3 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
4 whole-wheat tortillas

For the mango-pineapple salsa

1 large ripe mango, chopped
1/4 cup red onions, chopped
1/4 cup red bell pepper, chopped
1 8-ounce can pineapple tidbits in juice, drained
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
1–2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
Salt, to taste

For the spicy black beans

2 tablespoons onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 14-ounce can black beans
2 tablespoons red pepper flakes

Preparation Instructions

1. To make the shrimp tacos: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Add the chopped garlic and cook for about 1 minute. Add the cumin and red pepper flakes, and let the flavors blend together. Add the shrimp and toss. Carefully add the tequila and flambé. Season with salt and add the dried chipotle powder. Once shrimp are cooked, add the chopped cilantro and toss.

2. In a separate nonstick skillet over low heat, heat a whole-wheat tortilla until pliable, about 2 minutes on each side.

3. Plate one tortilla per person and serve three shrimp in each taco.

4. To make the spicy black beans: In a saucepan over medium heat, add the chopped onion and chopped garlic clove. Sweat the onions for about 2 minutes. Add the cumin and the black beans. Stir and add the red pepper flakes. Simmer for about 5 minutes.

5. To make the mango-pineapple salsa: Peel the mango and chop into small dice and place in a bowl. Chop the yellow and red bell peppers and add them to the bowl with the mango. Add the drained pineapple tidbits and chopped red onion and toss together. Squeeze some lime juice over and toss. Add the chopped cilantro, salt to taste, and toss. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

A recent article shared conclusions from researchers at UC Berkeley’s School of Information. The paper “Self-presentation and Deception in Online Dating” found pretty much what we’ve known all along.

  • Men are more likely to make the first move, sending that first “wink” or email. They’re quicker to respond to women’s queries.
  • Women responded to only 16 percent of messages, and they take longer to respond.
  • Both genders seek partners similar to themselves in age, education, height, religion, politics and views about smoking.
  • Women are less open-minded, at least regarding ethnicity. They’re twice as likely as men to specify that they’re seeking someone of their own ethnicity.
  • Both sexes tell white lies. Men say they are a half-inch taller. Women shave five pounds off their weight.
  • Women’s profiles related more to home, sex and emotions; men’s profiles talked about work.
  • A photograph is the dominant predictor of whether men will connect. Women value narratives in profiles in addition to pictures.

Some of this information was garnered by content analysis of people’s actual online behavior. They tracked people’s actions (who initiated contact, how long it took to respond, words in profiles). But they must have interviewed daters to get the info on what was attractive in a profile, their true height and how much they really weighed.

In another study reported in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, published by a team from Harvard Business School, Boston University and MIT, the conclusion was that less is more in how much is shared in a profile. Their reasoning: when a lot of information is exchanged, more differences are exposed and there is less attraction.

Now this conclusion I found interesting. I suppose it depends on what you are aiming to get out of the online dating experience. Personally, I was interested in meeting someone online BECAUSE of the opportunity to get to know similarities and differences without the pressure of the relationship, regardless of how early into the relationship we were ( like meeting someone at a bar and they start to like everything you like and hate everything you hate), and make decisions based on that information.

But, if you are dating online for the end result of dating, just the action, well, I can see you would want to give as little information as possible while still remaining interesting.

That seems to be such a waste of time to me. I would so much rather eliminate people that are clearly incompatible ( and I hope they would do the same to me) than date despite the core differences and try to make it work anyway.

I speak from experience. Marrying someone who doesn’t like who you really are is no fun for anyone.

Anyway, what do you think of these two studies? Anything here but common sense?

I never liked putting a photo up. It bothered me to think of people I know possibly seeing my pic on an online dating site. I was always fine with exchanging pics after a woman and I had emailed a couple of times.

And I agree that there is a balance between not enough info and too much. The real problem I see is that people say the same things over and over again.

“I’m not into playing games.”

“I want to be friends first.”

“I am just as comfortable staying home and cuddling in front of the TV as I am in going out in my little black dress.”

“I like to go to museums and wineries.”

“My friends say I’m funny.”

“I like to go out and have a good time and laugh a lot.” Really? You enjoy laughing? At long last my search is over! I’ve found another who enjoys laughing!

When I read things like that above, what I’m really reading in nothing. It says nothing to me other than the woman lacks imagination. What I really want to see is some spark of intelligence in the profile. I don’t care if she likes museums. I do care if she tells me what she likes about museums — what’s her favorite exhibit she’s seen? Is there an art movement she especially likes, and why?

What a good profile does is convey a sense of the person.

I also think women respond to fewer messages because women get more messages. Men pursue. Women choose.

Save Something for the Emails and the First Date

I read dozens of dating profiles every day, and not because I’m looking for a date: I am a professional online dating profile writer for Match.com’s ProfilePro service. It’s my job to take someone’s profile and some additional information gleaned from a survey, then use that information to craft something that really showcases who each person is as an individual — and that will attract the kind of person he or she is seeking.

As you might have guessed, I’ve developed a few ideas of my own about where people often go wrong when writing their profiles. I tend to see the same problems over and over again. Here are the most common mistakes people make and how to fix them so your profile really pops.

Mistake #1: Using generic, clichéd languages Seducing Mr Right Making Your Dating Profile POP
This is definitely the most common issue with dating profiles. It seems that everyone has a “good sense of humor,” is “fun,” and is “happy and positive.” Other clichéd phrases and terms to avoid: glass-half-full person, outgoing and friendly, romantic, affectionate. In general, long lists of adjectives will make your potential match’s eyes cross before he or she gets to the end of the sentence.

Solution: Get specific
When you want to use an adjective to describe yourself, think of an anecdote or example that shows how you embody that trait and share that instead. For example, if you are romantic, you might say, “I’m the type of partner who will plan a surprise weekend getaway to a cozy little B&B on the coast where we can snuggle in bed or watch the waves crashing on the shore.” Or if family is really important, you might write, “Nothing means more to me than spending the weekend cheering on my sons in their lacrosse games.”

Mistake #2: One-sided profiles
I always find it fascinating when a client either writes the entire profile about himself or who she’s looking for… and that’s it. My choice of pronouns is intentional: I’ve found, anecdotally, that more guys tend to write about themselves and don’t include much about the woman they’re seeking (except perhaps for “attractive”). And it seems that there are definitely more women than men out there who have a long, detailed laundry list of requirements for their desired mate.

Solution: Balance it out
Make sure your profile is balanced; definitely share some telling details about yourself and who you are, but save some information for the first email, date, and beyond! Don’t write an autobiography. And if you have a really picky checklist of traits your mate must possess, remember that you’re turning away potential matches before you even get to see if, perhaps, that one requirement just isn’t quite as important as you thought (such as having dark hair or being at least six feet tall). Some qualities are non-negotiable, of course, but if something is just a “bonus,” state it that way in your profile. Or you might say, “I’m particularly drawn to people with dark hair, but I won’t turn away blondes or redheads.”

Mistake #3: Too much text
You know you’ve seen it: a profile where you have to scroll down, and down, and down again… and by that point, your eyes are glazing over. As a profile writer, so are mine —and then I heave a sigh because I know I have to cut that profile way down, knowing that sometimes the client isn’t going to take it very well. People with long profiles tend to be attached to every bit of information that’s included in them. They’ve often worried over each word, trying to craft a profile that perfectly reflects their personalities. So I’ll tell you what I tell them: a truly standout profile isn’t very long; it’s usually a few short paragraphs. It can still tell you just as much about a person as a longer one will, but you’ll keep reading a shorter profile until the end without needing a nap when you’re done.

Solution: Edit, edit, edit
Here’s where a trusted friend — and, dare I say, a professional profile writer! — can really come in handy. Think about how you can say the same thing using fewer words. Try to put some of the information into the shorter sections on the left-hand side of your profile. You don’t need to share how much you love playing tennis in your essay if you already mentioned that in the “interests” section, for example. And shorten your paragraphs to three to four sentences each. Short paragraphs provide much-needed white space and help break up your profile so that readers can stop and take a breath between ideas. A quick-and-dirty guideline is to have two paragraphs about yourself, then two about who you’re looking for and perhaps one or two sentences at the end to wrap it up.

Mistake #4: Photos that don’t do a profile justice
Please, please take down that photo of you taken with your cell phone camera in a dirty mirror. It isn’t helping you at all. And do you have your shirt off, sir? Please put it back on! Whew, thanks. Now, let’s talk: You’re not doing yourself any favors if you have bad photos posted with your profile. And those include you with your arm around a woman who is quite possibly your ex, but probably your sister. Or six photos of your dogs in various positions on the couch. All kidding aside, even blurry, unflattering, or poorly cropped photos can really detract from your profile.

Solution: Tell a story with your pictures
I see way too many profiles where the writing is good, but the photos fall flat. We’re visual people, especially these days. Your photos tell just as much of a story about you as your written profile does. They should show clearly what you look like, of course, but also tell a bit about who you are. Do you like to kayak? Get someone to snap a photo of you in your boat on the water. Are your friends the most important people in your world? Hand someone the camera when you’re out dancing and get a candid shot. Make sure you also include one good full-body shot and one close-up of your face, but if you paid for a professional photo shoot, don’t put all eight of the “good” ones up. No one wants to click through a bunch of photos that are all really similar to each other. Pick one or two of the best ones and get some friends to help you take some candid shots for the rest of your profile photos. And please, no exes! In fact, if you want to avoid inadvertently turning someone off, don’t put up a photo of you with anyone of the opposite sex that could be misinterpreted as an ex — even if she really is your sister.

You’re on a first date, and it’s going horribly. Or is it? It turns out that it’s all a matter of perspective. The elements that are making your date a disaster could actually signal something much sweeter. Read on for the six signs that your doomed date is anything but.

1. Your date is not your type

Sure, you’ve seen your date’s photo on his or her profile—but when you meet face to face you realize the person is so not your type. “Next!,” you say? Not so fast. “Remember that there are thousands of happy couples out there who are not each other’s type,” says Janice MacLeod, co-author of The Dating Repair Kit. By ruling out someone just because he or she does not meet your romance requisites, you are cutting yourself off from a world of possibilities.

When Jenna, 32, of Key West, FL, met Jeremy, she thought it would never work. After all, he was three inches shorter than she was and was a bit scruffy for her taste. “I wanted to leave instantly, but I had agreed to dinner and didn’t want to be rude,” she says. “Once I got past the superficial stuff, I realized what a gem of a guy he was, and to my surprise, our souls totally clicked. I never thought my soul mate would come in a package like his, but it happened. The lesson? Never say never, no matter what your ‘type’ may be.”

If your date isn’t your type, try redefining your “type” in terms of how a person treats you and makes you feel. This will instantly broaden your dating horizons. “Then vow to finish out the date, come what may,” MacLeod concludes. “Just be in the moment, and give chemistry a chance to grow and prosper.”

2. Your date is super-nervous

When Jennifer, 38, of Las Vegas, NV, was on her first date with Bob, she couldn’t help but notice that his voice was shaking. And his hands were trembling. And he was sweating buckets, right through his shirt. “I thought something was

seriously wrong with this guy,” she recalls. “I had no intentions of dating him again.” But luckily for Jennifer (and Bob), she changed her mind and decided to give him a second chance. “The next date, he was much more chilled out and relaxed,” she continues. “He later told me he was nervous because I was the most beautiful woman he’d ever met. That was a good enough reason for me!”

Extreme nervousness on a first date could be a good sign, says MacLeod. “It probably means this person likes you a whole lot,” she says, “and might need a few dates to get past their jitters.”

When your date is super-nervous, put him or her at ease by being deliberate and calm yourself. Take a few deep breaths, smile, and make eye contact. “It helps to be compassionate and understanding about what the other person is going through,” MacLeod advises. “A first date isn’t necessarily easy, especially if you’re super-nervous to begin with, so try to cut your date some slack.”

3. Your date tells you there are other people in the picture

It’s your first dinner date. Between the hot wings and the halibut, she drops it on you: She’s just out of a major breakup and is seeing a few other men at the moment. Instant date-killer, right? Wrong, says MacLeod: “This full disclosure means your date is very honest,”she says. “Shes laying all her cards on the table and not pretending to be someone she’s not.”

Over happy hour, Bob, 29, of Colorado Springs, CO, learned more than he ever wanted to know about his date, Jill. “She told me she was dating another guy, but they weren’t totally serious—they were more like friends with benefits,” he recalls. His response to her “T.M.I.” confession? “I paid for the margaritas and told her to call me if she ever dumped her so-called ‘friend,’” he recalls. Four weeks later, she did—and Bob and Jill began dating in earnest. “She later explained that she liked me so much, she didn’t want to lead me on during that first date,” he says. “In retrospect, I guess I can respect that.”

If your date tells you he or she is dating other people, just be happy no secrets are being kept from you. (After all, it’s better to know now than later.) However, if the bombshell your date drops is more of the “I’ve cheated on every person I’ve ever been with” variety, this is a major red flag, according to MacLeod. Beware.

4. You argue

You’re having a nice, normal, getting-to-know-you conversation when suddenly you have a difference of opinion. What begins as a friendly disagreement quickly escalates into an all-out fight. Whether you’re arguing over politics, religion, or even the merits of VH-1’s Celebreality lineup, an argument on a first date never feels like a good sign. But a fight can actually be a very good thing. If you’re arguing, it can mean there’s passion between you. Sparks are flying—sure, maybe not in the way you’d hoped, but they’re still there. “Arguing can lead into interesting conversation, which is part of what keeps a relationship alive,” says MacLeod.

Is a First Date Spat a Red Flag?

When 28-year-old Noah, of Burbank, CA, met Lillian, they instantly clashed. “It felt like we couldn’t see eye-to-eye on anything that first date,” he recalls. “She was a vegetarian, and I ordered a rib-eye. An hour-long debate on animal rights ensued.” Despite the meat melee, their connection was still meaty enough to merit a second date. “She was my opposite, sure, but being with her was never boring,” he says.

The next time you find yourself in a heated argument with a new date, try embracing your differences. After all, who’d want to date a clone of him- or herself? Agree to disagree, then search for common ground.

5. The date feels more like an interview

The entire time Mark, 41, of Plano, TX, was out with Jackie, he felt like he was in the hot seat. “She just kept asking me question after question—where I was from, what my favorite ice-cream flavor was, where I wanted to be in five years,” he says. “It was really uncomfortable, and it was hard to feel a vibe or any sparks over all the interview speak.”

If your date spends the whole time you’re together shooting questions at you rapid-fire and giving you the hard sell, it could just mean that he or she is impressed by you and is simply trying too hard, says MacLeod. That was the case for Mark and Jackie: “Once I ‘passed’ her pre-screening interview, she let her true self come out—and that’s when we actually started to have some fun,” he recalls.

When your date is grilling you, attempt to turn it around and ask some questions of your own. That way, it won’t feel so one-sided. If you have a second date, MacLeod suggests catching a movie. “That way, you won’t have to talk the whole time,” she says. After your first-date talkfest, it will be a nice break.

6. There’s no good-night kiss

If your date isn’t sealed with a kiss, it doesn’t always mean you’re getting the kiss-off. In fact, a sans-smooch soiree could even be a good thing, according to MacLeod. “Not kissing you on a first date very often means he’s being respectful,” she says. “He’s waiting for the perfect moment to have that great first kiss, like people have in movies. Plus, this means he’s probably not kissing all his other first dates, either. He’s too selective to just give his kisses away.”

Judy, 32, of Baltimore, says her current boyfriend waited four whole dates to engage her in a lip-lock. “I was wondering if he just wanted to be pals or what,” she recalls. “It turns out that he’s really old-fashioned. He just wanted us to build a friendship before we took things to the next level. The wait made our first kiss even that much more spectacular. I think we both saw fireworks!”

In the absence of a smooch, look for other signs of attraction. Does your date make eye contact, give you undivided attention, and make you feel like you’re the only person in the room? In this case, actions speak louder than… action. Hang in there, and you may well be smooching in no time.

The widely-used body mass index (BMI), on the other hand, simply makes blanket assumptions as to what every individual of a certain height should ideally weigh, regardless of the body composition which makes up that weight. The BMI gives particularly inaccurate information with regard to individuals with above-average lean muscle mass, classifying such individuals as “overweight” or “obese” despite the fact that their body fat percentage would indicate they are in excellent physical condition.

Welcome to World Of Warcraft Tips and Tricks!

My name is Ryan (MaceToFace on WOW)! I built this blog to help other WoW players get the most from the game. I started playing WoW when I was 15, with the vanilla version. Since then I’ve built over 25 level 70 and 8 level 80 characters. It took me a long time, but I learned a lot and had a lot of fun along the way. But, the real secret for me is… longer thicker eyelashes! Well, that’s probably no surprise to you, because that’s why you came here in the first place most likely, right? Anyway, I have found that just by adding length to my eyelashes, I can get SO MUCH MORE ATTENTION than when I don’t!

Dormir es la máxima herramienta de recuperación, no solo para recuperarte del ejercicio. Es una herramienta para recuperarte de cualquier estrés que tengas durante todo el día.

Sin importar si proviene de las presiones familiares, por problemas en el trabajo, por las finanzas, etc., el estrés incrementado puede ser disuelto si dormimos adecuadamente. Además, no creas que podrás quemar grasa al máximo si estás sobre-estresado por las demás cosas de tu vida. Un nivel alto de estrés puede apagar la efectividad de tu habilidad para quemar grasa, entre otras cosas.

Por lo anterior, asegúrate de dormir adecuadamente. ¿De qué hablamos? Te recomendaría que no durmieras menos de siete o más de nueve horas. De hecho, ¡siete horas y media por noche podría ser la cantidad perfecta!

Bueno, cuando posamos nuestros ojos en la foto que muestra un tipo musculoso o una chica explosiva con seños grandes en la cubierta del último producto para acondicionamiento físico o para perder peso, algo pasa. Nos emocionamos. ¡Muy probablemente nos emocionemos mucho!

Desafortunadamente, esto es algo de lo que se aprovechan muchos en la industria del acondicionamiento físico. Saben esto y lo usan en su beneficio. El proceso es sencillo: solo necesitan colocar un tipo o una chica bien parecidos y en excelente forma en el producto, para que este se venda. Ni siquiera tienen que decirte que te verás como dicha persona, ya saben que subconscientemente asumirás que eso pasará. Como deseas quemar grasa desesperadamente, este se vuelve un juego demasiado fácil esta industria.

Por supuesto, unas cuantas semanas después, quizás comiences a perder las esperanzas y te des cuenta de que va a ser muy difícil estar a la altura de esos lineamientos poco realistas y exageradamente estrictos. Tienes una vida, ¿verdad? Es cierto, quieres quemar grasa, pero también tienes un trabajo, quizás una familia y otros intereses en la vida. No me malinterpretes, me encanta un entrenamiento grandioso para quemar grasa, ¡pero se que no deseas pasar cada hora del día, por el resto de tu vida, haciendo ejercicio!

Todo esto me pasó muchas veces cuando era más joven. No me sentía feliz con mi peso, quería quemar grasa y buscaba la manera más eficiente para adelgazar, fortalecerme y estar sano; sin embargo, no deseaba pasar demasiado tiempo en el gimnasio, o tener que seguir un plan de dieta irracional durante largos periodos de tiempo.

Después de más de una década experimentando en mi mismo, amigos, parientes y perfectos extraños, reuní algunos de los secretos que funcionaban mejor para quemar grasa en la menor cantidad de tiempo.  Ahora bien, lo que me orilló a hacer esto, fue la increíble cantidad de frustración que se que miles de personas están pasando en este momento.

¿Por qué? Para contestar esto, quiero que comprendas los aspectos psicológicos a los que nos enfrentamos en el mundo de la salud y el acondicionamiento físico.

¿Cómo se le dice a hacer algo una y otra vez esperando un resultado diferente? Muy bien, voy a responderte… ¡Locura! En cierta manera, la industria del acondicionamiento físico te está volviendo loco mientras buscas quemar grasa y tener un cuerpo delgado, fuerte y sano. Sus promesas son demasiado buenas para ser ciertas, y a menudo no pueden cumplir con las expectativas. En muchos casos, prometen en exceso y sus resultados están por debajo de lo esperado.

Es un enorme juego psicológico que la industria del acondicionamiento físico está jugando con nosotros, el cual se remonta a nuestra infancia. Cuando éramos niños, en la escuela nos enseñaron que podríamos hacer todo lo que quisiéramos cuando creciéramos. Tus padres probablemente te dijeron que podrías lograr cualquier cosa que quisieras si lo creías con la suficiente fuerza. Los míos lo hicieron.

Aunque esto puede ser fuente de gran inspiración para lograr los objetivos de la vida, también puede ser usado contra ti, sin que lo sepas. En gran medida eres producto de tus características genéticas. De la misma manera que un enanito jamás podrá jugar en la NBA, y alguien flaco jamás podrá ganar una competencia de culturismo de pesos pesados.

Lo cierto es que estas dos personas pueden quemar grasa y obtener la mejor forma de su vida, pero nuestros genes son responsables en gran medida de como terminaremos viéndonos cuando tengamos esa mejor forma. Normalmente esto no te lo dicen en la industria del acondicionamiento físico, quieren que creas que cualquiera puede verse como un fenómeno genético de la naturaleza… con tan solo seguir sus programas.

Por favor, comprende que no estoy diciendo que estás condenado por tus genes… todos pueden lograr mejoras asombrosas en sus físicos realizando ejercicios adecuados y teniendo buenos hábitos alimenticios. Me refiero a que cuando comenzamos a compararnos con las personas que aparecen en las revistas es cuando nos metemos en problemas, nos perdemos en ese círculo vicioso de exageraciones y sensacionalismo que actualmente prevalece tanto en el acondicionamiento físico y la quema de grasa.

Como dije antes, tienes una vida. Eres una persona ocupada. Todos lo estamos. Vivimos en una sociedad que va a un ritmo rápido, en la era de la información, en la cual tenemos que completar demasiadas tareas y muy poco tiempo para hacerlo. No se tu, pero muchas veces me encuentro a mi mismo tratando de meter todo lo que hago en esas pocas horas que hay entre el momento que me levanto y me voy a dormir. No es fácil.

Entonces llegan los gurús del acondicionamiento físico diciéndote que para quemar grasa y estar en buena forma tienes que entrenar todos los días o casi todos. Que tienes que hacer aeróbicos o ejercicios cardiovasculares para quemar grasa, varias veces a la semana. Que tienes que entrenar con pesas otros tantos días a la semana, de modo que literalmente terminas entrenando 5-6 días a la semana, todas las semanas. Si lo quieres, tienes que hacerlo, te dicen.

Estoy aquí para decirte ¡que eso está muy alejado de la verdad! Muchos de estos programas también te dirán que tienes que seguir alguna dieta irracional para quemar grasa. Esto puede incluir eliminar todos o la mayoría de los carbohidratos, ingerir enormes cantidades de suplementos o alguna otra poción mágica para perder peso. Además de eso, cuando sus programas no cumplen las expectativas, te dirán que todo el mundo es diferente y que tienes que descubrir lo que funciona bien en ti. Espera un minuto… ¿No te habían dicho que su programa te prometía el cuerpo de la portada?

Lo que están haciendo es mantenerte en esa locura del acondicionamiento físico que mencioné antes. Te mantienen haciendo lo mismo (probando el siguiente producto o entrenamiento y régimen de dieta de moda), prometiéndote los mismos resultados maravillosos de quema de grasa. Si no funciona, te recomiendan el siguiente método grandioso. Mucha gente usa el siguiente producto o promesa milagrosa mientras ¡la industria del acondicionamiento físico lo usa en su beneficio!

Desafortunadamente esta industria, en muchas maneras, se ha convertido en un ciclo de exageraciones y sensacionalismo. Es cierto, existen algunos entrenadores y profesionales de buen corazón, pero incluso algunos de ellos están siendo controlados por los propietarios de los gimnasios, por los editores de revistas y las compañías de suplementos. ¡Ahí es donde está el dinero! Incluso si están tratando de ayudarte, se convierten en víctimas involuntarias de la maquinaría.

Anuncian sus productos, programas y dietas utilizando lo más selecto entre los bendecidos genéticamente. Oye, si funcionó en ese tipo o en esa chica que tiene un físico impresionante, funcionará en mí. Caí en la trampa demasiadas veces, hasta que comencé a investigar y experimentar como lo dije antes.

Entonces, un buen día finalmente desperté y descubrí por mi mismo los secretos que unos cuantos conocen. Secretos que jamás dominarán las recomendaciones generales de la industria del acondicionamiento físico porque no son populares entre la gente que la controla. ¿Por qué?

Porque estos principios no venderán enormes cantidades de aparatos o dispositivos ridículos para hacer ejercicio, o pociones mágicas. We all want thick and shiny hair. But most of the time, it seems like an impossible feat even if we have a plethora of products and treatments at our disposal. We know all too well that setting apart products that work from the ones that don’t can be both time-consuming and expensive. And trying out every other treatment out there can ultimately damage our hair. Hairstyling need not be complicated, as hair experts spill their styling secrets and reveal which products will really work for your hair.

For volume and thickness:

Get some layers. The right haircut can give limp hair some much-needed volume and body. Adding layers around the face and in the back creates texture and movement. “Long side-swept bangs also look good on all face shapes and work especially well with thin hair,” says L’Oreal Professional hairstylist Jerry Javier.


Add color and highlights. Trying out a lighter hair color will make your strands look thicker while putting in some subtle highlights will give your hair texture. “Highlights (and lowlights) are one of the coloring techniques that, when done correctly, can enhance not just the cut and style of the hair, but also improve one’s skin tone,” explains Ali Tiongson, salon manager of Park Jun Beauty Lab.

Use Velcro rollers. To give hair lots of volume, wrap one-inch sections of hair around each roller, following the direction of its growth. Leave them on for at least 15-20 minutes. Then, run a blow-dryer through each roller, making sure it’s set in high heat. After taking out rollers, mist hair with a light hairspray.

Apply mousse, then blow-dry. Give hair some lift by applying mousse while hair is slightly wet, then run sections of hair through a drier. “It’s important to emphasize volume at the roots,” says hairstylist Raymond Santiago. You can do this by pulling hair upward when drying.

To increase shine:

  • Say NO to alcohol. Alcohol-based products can seriously dry your hair, making it look dull and brittle. Using shine-enhancing products in creams or serums can prevent damage, and switching to silicone-based products can help protect hair.
  • Wash the right way. Most hairstylists recommend limiting shampoos to every other day. The cleanser strips hair of its natural oils, which essentially give your tresses its luster and shine. If you can’t go through a day without a shampoo, “wash hair in the evening,” says Kiehl’s hairstylist Felicity Son. “Your hair will produce oil as you sleep and it will coat each strand, making it look shiny in the morning.”
  • Try a heat treatment. A hot oil treatment can bring back hair’s moisture and shine. “To prevent hair from drying, I highly recommend hair treatments depending on the condition of the hair,” says Tiongson. “For very dry hair, a once-a-week treatment will do, every two weeks for dry hair and once a month for normal hair.”
  • Trim regularly. When long or curly hair isn’t trimmed, its ends usually look dry and damaged. This is because the ends are older and in need of more moisture. A trim every six to eight weeks should do the trick, as it takes out the hair’s driest, most damaged part. Applying a shine serum to the ends brings back its shine and prevents split ends.

Typically a high end hair extension technician, in addition to the cost of hair, would charge a fee that would run into the hundreds of dollars or even higher. However, I have found that creating a grest style with hair extensions can be done at a fee that is reasonable, withoput sacraficing perfection!

What Is Sugaring?

Marriage takes work. This is a fact that most people seem to understand on a shallow level, but it does not really sink in until they are faced with it.

One of the reasons why may be “Happily Ever After” syndrome. As long as we can remember, we are fed a steady stream of stories, television shows and movies that portray passionate love affairs that end with the happy couple tying the knot.

What comes next? When the screen goes black and the newlyweds begin their fictional lives together, would their undying love stand up to the trials and tests that all mature committed relationships must endure?

This is where some great books have been responsible for helping me save my marriage. Some advice to help you through this difficult time can be found in this article.

If couples spent a fraction of the time planning and working on their relationship and connectedness that they do on the wedding ceremony itself, far fewer couples would be tying the knot.

But when faced with a rocky marriage and having drifted apart, what should couples who want to remain committed do? The answer is simple: go back to the beginning of the relationship and start over. Wipe the slate clean and begin from the ground up!

1. Agree to work through your problems together.

The issues that divide must be addressed. Make a point to do it together without judging. Eschew judgmental tones and accusations and approach every issue out of love. You are a team, and are on the same side. If it is too difficult on your own, then see a professional marriage counselor. If issues of infidelity are involved, this is very important.

2. Start dating again.

Dating is the process by which couples get to know one another and the flames of attraction begin to burn. Agree to refrain from disputes enough to enjoy a pleasant evening out. Revisit the time when your relationship was budding and exciting. Remember the time in which you fell in love and why.

3. Get to know one another.

When in the throes of a new relationship, most people are completely enthralled by their partner. Every fact and piece of information they learn endears them even more.

Pretend you do not know one another and ask a lot of questions. Even if you think you know all the answers, you may be surprised at some things. You will also learn new things about them. Allow the spark to reignite.

Even when times seem bleak, just remember that working through problems and fighting for a relationship is one of the most rewarding things a married couple can do.

Virtual versions of everyone exist inside the two giant machines of the late modern age. In the datascape, the vast array of databases in which the electronic traces of our everyday lives are stored and analyzed, we appear as data profiles. In cyberspace, the worldwide computer network in which everyone can connect with every one else, we appear as cyber-personas. This speculative essay in social theory argues that both are hybrid entities – part human and part machine – and post-human forms of humans assimilated into machines. Ellis examines the data profile and cyber-persona separately—how each comes to be, how each represents us, and the opportunities and challenges each poses—and as similar phenomena. Humans provide the raw material for both, and each changes as we change in near real time. But each machine also shapes us in its terms. The data profile is a probabilistic portrait of our future behavior, conjured up by others to inform their decision-making; it’s an informational output. The cyber-persona is a pattern of our online connections, created as we present ourselves to and interact with others; it’s a network effect. Although based on us, neither looks like the continuous, whole and bounded self of the modern tradition. Rather, these post-human entities are contingent, relative and open to others. Since these hybrids are increasingly the forms in which we appear to others, we all have a stake in how these digital doppelgangers represent us.
